I'm not sure if this is allowed. If its not I'll delete this post, but I wanted to invite everyone to check out blessed_woman & godly_wife. They're two Christian centered communities dedicated to helping women grow closer to God.

blessed_woman is for single/dating women of all ages to learn and grow closer to God. I'm working hard on building up the community. We have a prayer request area with a dedicated prayer team. We're also adding new content leaders to help bring in Christian content for the community, so stop by and check it out. You'll be sure to find what you're looking for here.

godly_wife is for engaged/married women of all ages. It has all of the same features of blessed_woman, but the content is directed towards topics of interest to engaged/married women. godly_wife's goal is to improve husband/wife relationships starting with the wife, directing each woman in ways to improve herself based on biblical principles of a godly woman.

Please check them out and spread the word.

"Ordinary work, which is what most of us do, most of the time, is ordained by God every bit as much as is the extraordinary."

[Current Music |Inhabited - "Where are you"]

"I asked for Strength-
and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom-
and God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for prosperity-
and God gave me brain and brawn to work.
I asked for courage-
and God gave me dangers to overcome.
I asked for love-
and God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted-
I received everything I needed.
My prayer has been answered"

~From the Family of Michael Job, an Indian Christian Medical Student who was killed in June of 1999 because of his Father's Evangelistic Activities~

*in English:

For my perfect arms, when there are so many mutilated. For my perfect eyes, when there are so many without light. For my voice that sings, when there are so many that are mute. For my hands that work, when there are so many begging. Oh wonderful Savior, to have a home to return to when there are so many who do not have a place to go. To smile, when there are so many crying. To love, when there are so many who hate. To dream, when there are so many who shake in nightmares. To live, when there are so many who die before they are born. For everything, TO HAVE SO LITTLE TO ASK FOR AND SO MUCH TO BE GRATEFUL FOR.

[Current Music |The Afters - "Beautiful Love"]

Wow, I read this poem in a book, today and it will really make you stop and think, it doesn't give the author so I'm sorry for that, but I read it in the book "One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven" by Mark Cahill.

My Friend

My friend I stand in judgment now,
And feel that you're to blame somehow.
On Earth I walked with you day by day,
And never did you pint the way.

You knew the Lord in truth and Glory,
But never did you tell the story.
My knowledge then was very dim,
You could have led me safe to him.

Though we lived togther here on Earth,
You never told me of the second birth.
And now I stand this day condemed,
Because you failed to mention Him.

You taught me many thigs, that's true;
I called you "friend" and trusted you.
But I learn now that it's too late,
And you could have kept me from this fate.

We walked by day and talked by night,
And yet you showed me not the light.
You let me live, and love, and Die,
You knew I'd never live on high.

Yes, I called you "friend" in life,
And trusted you through joy and strife.
And yet on coming to this dreaful end,
I cannot now call you "my friend"

I don't know about you, but this really kicks me hard with the importance of witnessing. Much love.

In His Name,
-Sara-

G.K. Chesterton [Jul. 5th, 2006|08:38 pm]
Christian Quotes

augustine
Here are a few good G.K. Chesterton quotes.

"Angels can fly because they can take themselves lightly."

"The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting. It has been found difficult and left untried."

"The Bible tells us to love our neighbours, and also to love our enemies, probably because they are generally the same people."

"Man may be defined as an animal that makes dogmas...Trees have no dogmas. Turnips are singluarly broadminded."

"A strict rule is not only necessary for ruling; it is also necessary for rebelling. This fixed and familiar ideal is necessary to any sort of revolution. Man will sometimes act slowly upon new ideas; but he will only act swiftly upon old ideas. If I am merely to float or fade or evolve, it may be towards something anarchic; but if I am to riot, it must be for something respectable....Thus we may say that a permanent ideal is as necessary to the innovator as to the conservative; it is necessary whether we wish the king's orders to be promptly executed or whether we only wish the king to be promptly executed."

And the last one is long, so I'll put it behind an LJ-cut.

[Current Music |Smile]

"Faith consists in the acceptance of doubts, the working through them, rather than the suppression of them."

That probably is not a religious quotation in origin but nevertheless I think that's the way it goes. I used to bury all the questions and doubts I had and I think that probably has harmed my relationship to God more than anything else. So if I may give you folks a piece of advise, it would be that find out answers for your questions and discuss things that cause of doubt, because when unsolved they tend to store themselves somewhere and take to troublemakers later. :)
